The Missio Dei Northeast Certificate Programs are designed specifically for ministry training for church leaders within the Northeast. We offer three certificate programs that can be taken for academic credit or personal enrichment.

Certificate in Theology
This certificate is design for mean and women who desire to grow in their ability to study God’s Word faithfully and to deepen their understanding of the grand story and central doctrines of Scripture. Through four core courses, students will develop foundational skills in biblical interpretation and gain a clearer grasp of the theological truths that shape the Christian faith. This program strengthens both personal spiritual growth and confidence in handling the Scriptures.

Certificate in Christian Ministry
This certificate equips men and women to serve Christ faithfully and fruitfully in the life of the local church. Combining our four core courses with two electives, this program provides both theological depth and practical ministry training. Old Testament Theology
A comprehensive survey of the Old Testament, including the Law, Prophets, and Writings. Students will study Old Testament literature using historical background, literary analysis, and theological construction. The course explores how the whole Old Testament tells a unified story of God’s redemption, pointing ultimately to Jesus. Topics include covenant, kingdom, prophecy, and New Testament fulfillment.

New Testament Theology
A comprehensive survey of the New Testament, including the Gospels/Acts, the Epistles, and Revelation. Students will study New Testament literature using historical background, literary analysis, and theological construction. The course explores how the New Testament records the fulfillment of God’s redemptive purpose in Christ. Topics include union with Christ, trinitarianism, and the New Testament use of the Old Testament.

Bible Interpretation
An introduction to principles for interpreting the Bible, or “hermeneutics.” Students will develop the skills necessary to properly read, interpret, and apply Scripture. Topics include methodical Bible study and common errors in interpretation.

An introductory survey of the central teachings of the Christian faith from Scripture and church tradition. Students will study foundational doctrines including the doctrines of Scripture, the Trinity, sin, salvation, the church, and last things. The course explores how these doctrines developed historically, their biblical roots, and their practical implications for worship, mission, and Christian living.

Spiritual Formation
This course focuses on cultivating a life of Christlike character through the ordinary means of grace and intentional spiritual disciplines. Students will explore biblical foundations for spiritual growth while engaging practices that deepen their communion with God and shape their daily walk with Christ. Emphasizing integration with the local church, the course encourages personal holiness, humility, and faithfulness in both private devotion and public ministry.

This course equips students to faithfully proclaim the gospel and make disciples in their local context. Teaching & Preaching the Bible
This course trains students to rightly handle and faithfully communicate the Word of God.
